Position Overview

This position serves as the Accessible Technology Compliance Manager to leading our DoIT team supporting the Illinois Department of Human Services (DHS). The DoIT Team at DHS is leading a transformation to modernize the way citizens interact with the State of Illinois agency responsible for providing a wide variety of services to Illinois residents. The DoIT team at DHS is seeking to hire a candidate with strong technical and people skills to serve as the Accessible Technology Compliance Manager. The Accessible Technology Compliance Manager is responsible for providing advice, support, and recommendations on the use of Information Accessible Technology. The successful candidate will need to be highly analytical, professional, communicate effectively, and possess excellent organizational skills. Job Responsibilities

  1. Under administrative direction, serves as the Accessible Technology Compliance Manager for the Department of Innovation and Technology (DoIT), supporting the Department of Human Services (DHS).
  2. Conducts quality assurance evaluations of DoIT/DHS information technology applications for IITAA compliance and ADA reasonable accommodation requirements.
  3. Confers with various vendor representatives in order to remain current in new advances in technology.
  4. Serves as working supervisor.
  5. Provides consultative services in evaluations and recommendations relative to employees requiring reasonable accommodation technology products and services.
  6. Directs, coordinates, and conducts feasibility studies and projects relative to accessible technologies.
  7. Provides technical assistance to procurement staff for ensuring the Agency’s compliance with the ADA and IITAA guidelines for all required or mandated special projects and tasks.
  8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college, preferably with courses in computer science, management information systems, or operations analysis.
  2. Requires prior experience equivalent to three (3) years of progressively responsible computer science experience in a computer-based management information system in a public or business organization.

Specialized Skills:

  1. Requires three (3) years of professional information technology experience working with quality assurance testing of information systems and software utilizing IITAA, Section 508, or similar accessibility standards and accessible technology software.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Three (3) years of professional information technology experience working with quality assurance testing of information systems and software utilizing Illinois Information Technology Act (IITAA), Section 508, or similar accessibility standards and accessible technology software.
  2. Three (3) years of professional experience performing quality assurance evaluations of software applications for a public or private organization.
  3. Three (3) years of professional experience supervising or serving in a technical lead capacity for information technology staff.
  4. Three (3) years of professional experience interacting with and communicating in verbal and written form with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. One (1) year of professional experience providing advice, support, and recommendations on the use of Information Accessible Technology for a public or private organization.
  6. One (1) year of professional experience working with Illinois Information Technology Act (IITAA) compliance standards and communication products or similar for a public or private organization.
  7. Ability to analyze administrative problems and adopt an effective course of action.
  8. Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  9. Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
