Volt is immediately hiring Network Lab Technicians in Spokane, Washington.
As a Network Lab Technician you will:
Play a critical role to our Product Development team by providing valuable lab services and tools for the Spokane Product Development Lab. The lab supports both production systems and customized/flexible testing environments used by Test and Product Development teams. As a Lab Network Engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology and work with talented individuals.
- Setting up, configuring, documenting, and maintaining Linux and network systems in the lab infrastructure and virtual machine environments
- Audits configuration and inventory data on a regular basis
- Participate in the design, monitoring, measurements and improvements around the quality of PD Lab, Network and Virtual Lab services
- Create and maintain scripts and tools to automate the configuration and usability of the lab
- Troubleshooting/managing lab and network outages and issues
- Troubleshooting hardware issues with lab servers, switches, and other gear
- Address lab users Helpdesk tickets in a timely manner
- Works with IT and Facilities to resolve connectivity, power and cooling issues
- Perform other related duties as assigned
This is a full time opportunity.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Linux and Windows systems administration
- Network administration, including working knowledge of enterprise switching
- Fluent in various scripting languages for lab automation (bash, python, etc) an advantage
- Good knowledge of underlying web technologies including HTTP, HTML, and JavaScript
- A working knowledge of Linux, Windows and virtual machine technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, OpenStack or KVM).
- Ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
- Ability to work well independently and on a lab team
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, planning and organization skills
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in computer/engineering related field or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 3 year of experience working with Windows and Linux/UNIX systems
- Minimum 3 year of experience in data center environment (either production or dev/lab)
- Strong understanding of IP networking basics: L2, L3, L4 – L7
- Experience with python or other scripting is a plus
Pay Rate: $35.00- $50.00 per hour
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate’s education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
