Overview

For more than 70 years Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State providing acute care and a full range of medical services. The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care Stroke Care Orthopedics Neurological Surgery Comprehensive Cancer Care Maternity Care and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. In addition the hospital’s network of care includes Mercy Home Health and Hospice and Dignity Health Connected Living. Mercy Medical Center Redding is a member of the Dignity Health system and is a sister facility to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff and Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta. Responsibilities

Position Summary:

Under indirect supervision the incumbent is responsible for directing the day to day operations of the Mercy Medical Center Redding and the St. Elizabeth Hospital Ground Ambulance departments. The incumbent is also responsible for developing and executing an Ambulance Service Clinical Education plan focusing on patient satisfaction, growth and cost control of operations.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Five years Ground or Air ambulance experience required and two years in management / supervision required
    Three years of financial/budgetary planning experience
  • Completion of an EMT-P course that meets the provisions of Title 22, Division 9, Chapter 3 program requirements for EMT-P training programs
    Bachelor’s degree in a related field required (experience may be accepted in lieu of degree)
  • DMV Ambulance Driver Cert
  • California Paramedic License, SSV Accreditation (prior to start date)
    ACLS, PALS, BLS (Must be through the American Heart Association)
    ICS 100, 200, 700 and 800
  • Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required
    Thorough knowledge of the territory within the service area, traffic ordinances, and laws is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years Fleet Maintenance experience
    Two years QA/QI experience
    Previous EMS Field Supervisor experience
  • Certified Medical Transport Executive
    IBSC Certified Paramedic
    NRP, STABLE Certified
    TCCC/TECC Certified
    Tactical Medic/TEMS Specialist
  • Experience in back country rescue preferred
