Why does the job exist?
This position will supervise unit of protective services case workers responsible for engaging children, parents, and other caregivers in order to coordinate assessments and permanency plans for children in CYFD custody to promote child safety, permanency and well-being.
How does it get done?
• Provide direct supervision to CPS workers and participate on the local county office management team (30%);
• Review, assign, and monitor CPS cases to appropriate services to ensure timely permanency, safety and enhanced well-being for children and families (30%);
• Review and approve ongoing case management practices and collaborates across service areas and with community based providers (20%);
• Review practices to ensure the provision of quality services and other duties as assigned to achieve agency mission (20%).
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited college/university and one (1) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care, and licensure by the New Mexico Board of Social Work Examiners at the LBSW, LMSW, or LISW level or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with NM requirements OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Education, Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice or Family Services from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of any combination of experience including working with communities on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or related experience totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and is conditional pending results.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting: late hours, weekends, on-call and callback work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel is required. Possible exposure to irate clientele. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints. Incumbent will be required to furnish a personal vehicle for carrying out assignments which may include transporting clients including children. Must have own mode of transportation.
