Why does the job exist?

The Child Legal Support Assistant II will:

  • Perform as a Lead Worker to assist Legal Assistants, Management and Attorney’s in processing cases.

How does it get done?

The Child Legal Support Assistant II is responsible for:

  • Complex child support establishment and enforcement cases;
  • Preparing the most complex financial case calculations;
  • Appearing with the Department Attorney’s in court when needed.

Who are the customers?

  • Parties of child support cases and employers;
  • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) field support staff;
  • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) management;
  • Child Support Services Division (CSSD) Attorneys
  • State Disbursement Unit;
  • Centralized Enforcement Unit.

Ideal Candidate

The Ideal Candidate has experience:

  • Preparing and interpretation of Legal Documents;
  • With financials ;
  • Providing excellent customer service;
  • Managing a high volume of cases;
  • Meeting deadlines;
  • Testifying in court.

Minimum Qualification

High School Diploma or GED and sic (6) years of experience in legal research or legal document preparation, accounting, finance or social, health or human service program development or delivery and/or clerical experience in a Child Support Office may substitute for education on a month-for-month basis. Substitutions may apply. See substitution table below.

Employment Requirements

Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License.

Defensive Driving Certificate

Working Conditions

Office setting, exposure to VDT, extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. May need to testify in court hearings.
