Job Summary:
Develop creative and measurable communications strategies to engage key stakeholders. In this role, you’ll have direct oversight of the school’s annual editorial strategy, news, communications, social media, public relations, and thought leadership to promote the Wisconsin School of Business at UW-Madison. Play a key role in crafting outreach and public engagement strategies to strengthen relationships, drive pride, and increase brand affinity. You’ll use strong editorial, strategic, analytical, organizational, and project management skills to lead a team and execute strategies. Working across channels and platforms, you’ll collaborate with other passionate experts, communicators, and marketers to advance the school’s key objectives.
Responsibilities: Directs communications strategic planning, and execution. Provides approval and guidance for communications including staffing and budgetary planning in support of communication goals.
- 40% Develops, implements, and monitors strategic communication initiatives for designated audiences and internal stakeholders to maximize engagement and strengthen collaboration efforts
- 5% Identifies, establishes, and directs media relationships and partnerships with internal and external sources
- 10% Identifies, proposes, and implements new or revived operational policies and procedures
- 10% Audits and directs day-to-day operational plans to align with strategic initiatives and to meet established objectives
- 15% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees
- 20% Directs editorial, administrative, and production processes for alumni publications. Coordinate the work of an editorial team or manage the work of writing and/or editing professionals.

Qualifications:
Required:
– Five to seven years of experience developing communications strategies
– Experience leading a team and managing or mentoring employees
– Knowledge of digital media platforms
– Experience measuring and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies
Preferred:
– Experience with editorial development processes
– Knowledge of content management platforms (e.g., WordPress)
– Experience with social media and public relations effort
– Experience with internal communications strategies
– Knowledge of content marketing and SEO
– Knowledge of Google Analytics
