Position Description
As an Administrator of Network Operations, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:
- Install, cable, and monitor network devices, such as switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Troubleshoot, update, and complete routine network ticket requests.
- Implement network project tasks by collaborating with other team members and our project management team.
- Manage network-related inventory of hardware, software, and supplies.
- Daily intake and triage of network-related tickets.
- Handle phone calls to respond to network alarms and events for proactive network monitoring.
- Maintain and update automated processes to ease daily tasks.
- Coordinate hardware maintenance with internal teams and external infrastructure providers.
- Troubleshoot issues with local-area network (LAN) and wide-area network (WAN) infrastructures.
- Generate, drive, and update support tickets, outage communications, and process escalations for internal and external customers.
- Configure and maintain corporate network infrastructures using Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Cisco products, such as switches, routers, wireless access points, and network monitoring devices for local data centers and Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs) across all Applied Medical campuses.
- Participate in technology integration efforts and projects with other cross-functional teams.
- Implement projects for the Network team.
- Create and maintain network documentation as a technical record of our network hardware, software, servers, directory structure, user profiles, and data.
- Perform daily audits and checks of network monitoring systems such as SolarWinds and network management systems such as Cisco DNA Center.
- Participate in incident response by assisting with resolving outages while maintaining communication with other team members and stakeholders.
- Perform hardware troubleshooting and Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA).
- Maintain inventory records of network devices and network-related supplies such as cables, transceivers, rack mounts, and tools.
- Obtain sales quotes for replenishing network-related supplies and submit purchase order requests, as needed.
- Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors and service providers.
- Implement procedures, policies, and standards to ensure effective work operations.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, or participating in professional organizations.
- Assist with complex change management activities in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Operate scissor lifts and boom lifts for network hardware installation.
- Responsible for any additional tasks or duties, as needed.
Position Requirements
This position requires the following skills and attributes:
- Associate’s degree in Information Technology (IT) or a related field.
- At least five years of experience or equivalent working in an Information Technology (IT) or related field.
- At least three years of experience working in an IT Service Desk.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Cisco and Hewlett-Packard (HP) switches, firewalls, routers, and wireless access points.
- Experience with a ticketing system.
- Technical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated functional and technical understanding and knowledge of role responsibilities.
- Ability to build and maintain effective customer relations.
- Collaboration with team members to achieve corporate and departmental goals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Confident, articulate, and professional speaking and presentation abilities.

- Openness to ongoing training and certifications, as needed.
- Willingness to engage in domestic and international travel, as required.

Benefits
The base compensation range for this role is $70000 – $90000 / year for the position in California. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries in California based on the date of this job posting.
