Job Description
Do you have a desire to help the world’s best Navy Are you someone who takes pride in their work The Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking a highly motivated professional to join our Chemistry team. Apply to this position if you are seeking to work in a mission-driven, dynamic environment with a strong, interdependent technical team focused on learning and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be a member of a team of nine scientists who collaborate to perform chemical/radiochemical analyses and problem solving to support nuclear reactor operation for Navy training/testing (Prototypes), dismantlement/remediation, testing facilities, and fleet needs. Responsibilities include analyzing samples, evaluating data, understanding results, self-triggering on questionable results and troubleshooting problems. The group performs a wide variety of analytical techniques including: ion chromatography, gas chromatography, inductively coupled plasma – optical emission spectroscopy, UV/visible spectroscopy, gamma spectroscopy, beta spectroscopy by liquid scintillation, total organic carbon analysis, and wet chemistry, among others.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field; or Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field.
Preferred Skills
Experience with sample preparation and analysis of radiological and non-radiological materials in a chemical laboratory environment
Strong collaborative teaming and communication skills.

Pay Range
$61,000 – $93,400 annually

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A.
