Student Assistant
Job Description:
- Film and edit video projects highlighting the programs, student spaces and student experience.
- Ideate, create and pitch unique content ideas for the area’s various social platforms.
- Assist in the planning, development and execution of video production plans.
- Maintain care of video equipment.
- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers and vendors in an agency style work environment with both student and professional staff including graphic designers, marketing assistants, communication specialists and more.
Expected Salary:
$12.50 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
- This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average.
- Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 20 hours per week.
- Portfolio submission is required. The portfolio should be submitted by email to Matt August at mmaugus@ufl.edu.
- Must be a currently enrolled University of Florida student
- Willing to work 10-12 hours per week
- Must be available to work weekdays, and some evening and weekends
- Demonstrated previous experience utilizing videography equipment and Adobe Premiere Pro editing software
- Must be in good academic and disciplinary standing with the University with no repeated violations of University Code of Student Conduct.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Have an interest in people and building positive relationships that make our department and the UF community better.
- Possess solid filming and editing skills, as well as the ability to craft and maintain a consistent voice and tone.
- Ability and desire to learn the department’s video production equipment inside and out, as well as industry standard techniques and safe practices of grip, gaff, sound, lighting and camera equipment.
- Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and an eye for detail and accuracy.
- An interest in thinking creatively, strategically and collaboratively to aid in educating our community on the experiences and offerings available to enhance the UF experience.
Special Instructions to Applicants:
The department’s camera ecosystem consists of Blackmagic Cinema Cameras and Canon Mirrorless and Digital SLRs
Student Life Marketing utilizes Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Media Encoder, Bridge) and Davinci Resolve for post-production workflows
