Middle School Math Tutor – Bronx, NY
Job Description: We are seeking dedicated math tutors to provide onsite push-in support for middle school math teachers at Bronx Global Learning Institute, located at 750 Concourse Village West, Bronx, NY 10451. Tutors will support students between 12:30 PM and dismissal each day, with the daily schedule, students, and academic focus being directed as needed by the school. After dismissal the tutors will provide pull-out middle school math support as part of the after-school program, finishing at 5:30 PM. The curriculum will be provided by the school so that tutors may familiarize themselves with the curriculum in advance of their first day. The tutor will work in-person Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 12:30pm to 5:30pm, starting November 1 and running until March 12, 2024. There will be no tutoring sessions on the following dates due to conferences and holidays:
- November 7
- December 25 – January 1
- January 15
- February 19 – 21
- March 7
Qualifications:
- Previous experience tutoring or teaching middle school math preferred
- Willingness to work as a team and support both teachers and students
- Strong communication skills required to collaborate with teachers and students
- Available to work the hours specified above Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays at the school site
- Dedication to supporting academic and personal success, particularly among minority and low-income students.
- Passion for educational equity and social justice
Responsibilities:
As an Education Champion, you will work collaboratively with teachers and school leaders to provide the targeted support and interventions students need on any given day. You’ll be assigned to small group instruction. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring students have the rigorous and culturally responsive educational support they deserve.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Competitive pay rate of $22/hr with the opportunity to earn $24.20/hr* with a completion bonus.
- Education Champions are not paid during school breaks (Winter Break, Spring Break, etc.).
- Education Champions will be required to attend one 30-minute event per quarter and complete 5 minutes of asynchronous training per week.
