What you’ll do:
- Receive, analyze and review cases received by the Office of Child Advocate regarding complaints against the Children’s Division.
- Receive complaints over the phone or from written correspondence.
- Analyze complaints to determine an appropriate response.
- Contact Children’s Division staff and other relevant entities to gather additional information. Review Children’s Division case files, law enforcement reports, medical reports, etc.
- Interact personally with various parties involved in cases. This includes conducting interviews, field meetings, and travel as necessary.
- Assist in the promotion of the office, education surrounding the office, and assisting in the compilation of data for the annual report.
- Attend stakeholder meetings or legislative hearings when the Director or designee is unavailable.
- Speak with callers of concern.
- Review documentation in FACES regarding alternative care cases, services cases, and/or investigations and assessments.
- Speak with child welfare professionals such as Children’s Division employees, juvenile officers, and GALs.
- Issue a letter of findings regarding agreement or practice or policy concerns.
All you need for success:
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human development & family studies, criminal justice, political science, or public administration.
- Must have at least 2 years of experience in the child welfare system as a case worker, investigator, supervisor, or Juvenile Officer
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
Successful background check results are required for employment in this position. This may include background checks involving a candidate’s name and/or fingerprints and other screenings as needed for the specific position.
