Insight Global’s client is looking for a Substation Project Engineer to sit in their Chattanooga or Knoxville, TN office. The role will start off as a hybrid/in-office role and has the opportunity to move to a remote position. The role will be 50% design for substation projects, 50% project management, and people management. Overseeing design deliverables, documents, packets, etc. They will provide assistance to lower-level engineers/designers, QA/QC, and stamp project designs. The design includes one-line diagrams, protection and control design, physical design, metering, schematics, wiring, etc. Additionally, they will be responsible for monitoring budgets, scheduling, estimates, and client interaction. Projects could include upgrades, as-builts, station improvements, etc.
Other responsibilities include:
– Project documentation – scope of work, budgets, schedule of completion estimates
– Leading assigned project teams, ensuring goals are being met, and processes and procedures are being followed
– Assist with controlling project expenses and ensure the budget is on par
– See projects through close-out
Conduct meetings with project stakeholders to give updates on completion status, follow-up, and action items
– Coordinate design documentation and drawings for substation projects
Required Skills & Experience
– B.S. in Engineering focus
– PE license
– 6+ years of experience with substation design – either physical or P&C
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
– Experience working on equipment for AL Power, MS Power, or Southern Companies
– Experience with P&C design for HV substations
