A company in San Diego is looking for a Mechanical Systems Design Engineer to join their team. This person will be responsible for conceptual system design and providing functional, easily manufactured, and tested hydro-mechanical systems. This includes component design or selection to ensure the safe and reliable operation of new equipment. Duties include interpreting product and project requirements, as well as the development of product specific Process & Instrumentation Diagrams. This position requires work in multiple systems engineering areas including factory testing, design analysis, cost reduction, supplier interfaces, product quality troubleshooting as well as the development and understanding and application of new technologies. This individual will work cross functionally with a number of different individuals, therefore, someone who is a team player is a must.
Required Skills & Experience
– Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering (or related degree)
– 10+ years of mechanical systems design experience with P&IDs (piping and instrumentation diagrams) and process flow diagrams
– Someone who is an expert in sizing components based on loads
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
– Masters Degree in Engineering or related degree
– Experience with P&ID creation tool PromisE
– Experience with simulation/ modeling tools (MatLab, Creo, auto CAD)
– Gas turbine experience
