McCarthy’s Renewable Energy Business Unit is looking for a Project Quality Manager to ensure the successful implementation and execution of the Project’s Site-Specific Quality Plan (SSQP), in conformance with McCarthy’s National Quality Program. This individual solicits support and resources from the Project Manager, Project Superintendent, Project Engineers, and Trade Partners. The Project Quality Manager is also the main liaison with National Quality Operations Manager, who serves as a resource in executing the SSQP and communication of lessons learned. This individual is responsible for being main point of contact for quality management between trade partners, owner representatives and McCarthy team members.
Strong leadership of quality business goals, good communication, innovative problem-solving skills and the desire to influence peers will be highly valued in this position.
This is a full-time, site-based position that requires extensive travel to locations that span the continental U.S. Travel subsistence and additional incentives provided per company guidelines.
Position Objectives and Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of the Project Site Specific Quality Plan (SSQP) and the Inspection and Test Plan (ITP), with project team members input and client feedback and informed by Owner contract expectations and the McCarthy RE Quality manual.
- Adapt the project Inspection and Test Plan (Verification) Logs for components, systems and assemblies in conformance with the business unit level template.
- Determine the requirements for the Golden Row and other Mock-Ups/Sample Construction and facilitate the development of a schedule for timely execution, with project management, project engineers and superintendent group.
- Develop the Close-out Documentation Log in conformance with the format included with the SSQP template. Work with the Owner to build out the folder structure for the Job Book and document acceptance of this structure.
- Work with the Quality Director and National Operations Quality Manager to develop and implement a quality strategy that focuses on data driven decisions to provide customer value and promote a spirit of innovation within the Renewable energy organization. Partner with Continuous Improvement and craft training team members.
- Identify the project’s recommended action plan for extreme weather events (Wind, Wildfire, Hail, Thunderstorms) , including capturing proactive mitigation methods in the project budget.
- Confirm 1st Installation Verifications in accordance with the Inspection and Test Plan as well as verify that On-Going Verifications and Testing are accomplished and documented in PROCORE management system in accordance with the ITP.
- Identify, document and verify resolution of Quality Issues/ observations/ Non-Compliances in accordance with the contract documents and the SSQP.
- Assist the Quality Director and National Operations quality manager in Project Quality assessments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering, and/or 3-4 years of applicable estimating, project, design management and/or quality management experience preferred. Renewable energy project experience preferred.
- External quality management training preferred (e.g. USACE CQM course)
- Proven experience with quality management tools for design-build projects.
- Familiarity with basic technical characteristics of Renewable Energy power plant systems and technologies.
- Proven experience with project ownership onsite team correspondence and relationship management.
- Experience dealing with contracts, design professionals, supply chain constraints, subcontractors and/or self-perform work in a fast-paced business environment.
- Experience leading & adapting successful team ventures, including development of employees and maintaining relationships with external entities and subcontractor community.
- Self-starter. Great communicator in group environments – Able to disseminate information in a timely manner to all stakeholders.
- Highly motivated to bring results and success to the initiatives he/she leads.
- Ability to team & build trust and influence others internally and externally.
- Demonstrates behaviors consistent with McCarthy core values.

For California locations only, the salary range for this position is: $110,000 – $140,000. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Compensation offered may vary based on work location, experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors.
For Colorado locations only: In accordance with Colorado’s Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB19-085), we are including McCarthy’s good-faith and reasonable estimate of a range of entry level base compensation at the time of the posting. This does not include possible bonus and other benefits which can impact total compensation. Given the dynamic nature of the large-scale commercial construction industry, a candidate’s project portfolio and background can change the role and compensation for which that candidate might be qualified. The title and pay range for this role could change based on candidate qualifications and experience. Pay Range: $102,700 – $128,400
