What you’ll do

As part of this fast-paced Government Care Center Operations team, you will be immersed in innovative technology, working closely with VIP and other government customers to investigate complex hardware, software, networking, and configuration issues. Your role demands technical expertise and quick thinking as you provide direct support, ensuring proactive maintenance and seamless deployment of new systems and features worldwide. With your sharp attention to detail and exceptional problem-solving skills, you excel at resolving puzzling issues and delivering high-quality solutions with prompt response times. As a proactive and skilled technician, you manage various customer-related systems such as the VSAT hub, VSAT remote, and RF chain. Your commitment to customer service shines as you diligently investigate outages, promptly notify customers of communication disruptions, and coordinate service dispatches to resolve their issues. Recognizing the importance of follow-up, you conduct thorough repairs, verify solutions with customers, and meticulously document the entire process. Collaborating as a teammate, you escalate complex problems and diligently document all network outages, calls, and solutions in the trouble ticket database.

The day-to-day

As an Aviation Network Technician, the day-to-day activities will focus on monitoring active VIP government customers and the network, solve terminal, hub and network issues related to the group’s customers.

Daily tasks include:

  • Active Monitoring/Issue resolution
  • Realtime communications with customers on board aircraft
  • Proactive/reactive monitoring and issue resolution of aircraft terminals
  • Network and Hub issue resolution
  • Ownership of cases through issue or resolution.
  • Master technical knowledge of all platforms supported by the GCC/NOC.
  • Terminal Configuration
  • Configure terminals according to the Salesforce ATRF.
  • Documentation
  • Assist in the review of processes/procedures to ensure technical accuracy
  • Work with outside groups if additional documentation is required. (Global Network Operations (GNO), Network Services Engineering (NSE), Terminal Services Engineering (TSE), Government Mobility Service Operations (GMSO))
  • Training
  • Attend and participate in specialized training for GCC/NOC Technicians
  • Customer Engagement
  • Engage regularly with customers via telephone, instant messenger, and face-to-face meetings.
  • Assist customers in troubleshooting terminals and other products managed by Viasat.
  • Identify and solve issues on various networks and engaging escalation points, customers, and vendors as needed.

What you’ll need

  • 4 years experience in leading and troubleshooting hardware and software elements involved in IP networking, satellite communications, and/or cloud services.
  • 3 years’ experience in a Technical Support or NOC role.
  • Working knowledge with Linux/Unix and RF Satellite or Wireless Communication systems.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and rotating shifts in a 24×7 environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical material to a variety of audiences.
  • Experience with the use of Network Monitoring System.
  • Associates Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology or equivalent experience.
  • US government position. US citizenship required.
  • Current DoD 8570 certification IAT Level II (CCNA-Security, CySA , GICSP, GSEC, Security CE, or SSCP) or attainable within 6 months of employment.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance or willingness to apply for a secret clearance as soon as administratively feasible (interim clearance must be granted prior to the start date).
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

What will help you on the job

  • 3 years working with RF or satellite communications
  • Experience in Wi-Max technology systems
  • Prior experience with CRM and defect tracking systems, such as Salesforce or JIRA
  • Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX configuration, and ability to capture and interpret network traces strongly preferred.
  • Candidates must be willing to work as part of a distributed team.
  • Active CCNA, Sec , Net and/or A Certifications
  • Demonstrable experience executing precise command strings as well as addressing and device names at NMS interfaces
  • Ability to type at least 40 words/minute

Salary range

$30.79 – $51.56 / hourly
