About the Job: This position will serve as the lead on Skincare packaging design execution within the Global Packaging Design Team. This will require leadership on a project management level, operating within a larger Design Group, collaboration with various cross functional partners, including Marketing and Packaging Development teams. Communication, prioritization, and delegation of work will be key to this role in managing direct report full time and freelance staff.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Direct creative and design based on the directives of the Executive Director and group Creative Direction.
• Direct the Skincare group arm of the creative packaging design team to create shelf-back, social-ready 3D designs and package design layouts,to help drive overall brand strategy.
• A collaborative spirit whom can execute directives with excellence, lead by example, and direct their support team while fostering each member’s growth.
• Drive and support continued innovation, while in adherence to brand guidelines and realities of packaging performance needed.
• Design with visual merchandising & store design across all channels in mind (travel retail, specialty multi, department stores, online)
• Understand that packaging is the key sales vehicle and design with the consumer shopping habits in mind.
Industrial Design:
• Lead/and Direct and Mentor the members to drive and show leadership in concepting and ideating product designs (primary packaging) in line with ELC needs and market trends
• Lead/and Direct Collaborate with product development, product marketing and creative design to create highly desired designs, in addition drive and bring new innovations – not only to the table but eventually to the shelf.
• Lead/and Direct drive packaging newness to our product innovations while staying true to heritage facets of our brand identity.
Professional Direction Experience:
• Proven experience directing and managing complex programs, primary and secondary packaging in a corporate environment.
• Proven experience being part of a creative team and leading from his/her chair to support larger creative directions.
• Experience speaking and presenting in forums clearly, and concisely projects for leadership decision making.
• Experience supporting team growth and supporting senior and junior talent, growth of others – not just self – mentality.
• Management of multiple programs at once – all with different stages and needs – possessing excellent delegation and prioritization skill set.
Retail Experience:
• Deep Knowledge of Retail channels and designing for numerous retailers
• Design across various consumer touch points, including specialty-multi and open-sell as priority
• Understanding of the needs of a package when it comes to it’s social presence, as well as shelf presence. (ie : how it photographs / will appear in social posts)
• Partner with other creative departments to ensure omni-channel connectivity on daily basis (VM, 2D/Digital)
• Always have “finger on the pulse” with product and market trends, gaining inspiration from everywhere
• Think outside of the box and leverage knowledge of competitive landscape and trends
Qualifications:
About You:
• 7-10 years experience in 2D packaging design (3D structural design experience a plus)
• Ideally CPG and/or previous beauty, prestige, or mass design experience.
• All pertinent adobe products + software knowledge
• Strong in shelf-back, social ready design capabilities and proven track record.
• You are resilient, and have strong collaboration and the ability to shepherd projects with your cross functional partners.
• You can create differentiated, innovative packaging, while fitting in brand codes.
• Industrial design capabilities and awareness of modern production techniques.
• Seasoned manager, adept at supporting + driving change and brand evolution.
• Sustainability is a priority here at ELC, understanding of PCR materials/usage, the longevity/needs of packaging, and it’s lifecycle is a must.

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $117,000 to $202,100. Exact salary depends on several factors such as experience, skills, education, and budget. Salary range may vary based on geographic location. In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for participation in a highly competitive bonus program with possibility for overachievement based on performance and company results.
