We are accepting applications for a Senior Financial Analyst within the Office of Financial Management, Revenue and Recovery Team, headquartered at the James Rhodes State Office Tower, 30 East Broad Street, 11th floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

What You’ll Do:

  • Under direction of Financial Manager, independently or as lead worker (i.e., provides work direction and training), researches, and analyzes complex information to resolve errors .
  • Acts as lead on new workflows and testing on new processes/software for Accounts Receivable (A/R) items.
  • Approves revenue deposits of other staff.
  • Handles complicated patient account inquiries and payment scenarios.
  • Assists with agency and board fiscal reviews.
  • Handles complicated accounting adjustments in agency-specific software and OAKS based upon adjustments of private insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid, and updates patient accounts.
  • Negotiates rate approval agreements with insurance companies and provide recommendations to fiscal management.
  • Complete patient account adjustments based upon recoups and payment adjustments from Payers and keep patient accounts up to date.
  • Performs review, reconciles monthly deposits, and reviews for proper coding.
  • Makes general ledger correction modifications.
  • Develops/implements fiscal policies/procedures relative Ohio Revised Code, Medicaid, and Medicare to maximize collection revenue as possible.
  • Keep patient account balances up to date to increase accurate record keeping and aid to improve the amount received from Medicare Bad Debt.
  • Coordinates communication and oversees collection efforts on delinquent accounts, bankruptcies, and estate filings.
  • Performs miscellaneous related tasks:
    • Maintains accurate records/reports.
    • Prepares appropriate forms, documentation, and correspondence.
    • Develops and distributes documents/reports.
    • Attends meetings to obtain or provide information.
    • Copies documents.
    • Provides cross-training to unit staff.
    • Handles phone and email inquiries from internal and external customers.
    • Performs other duties as requested.

Currently operating under a hybrid schedule. Two days in-office per week, subject to change.

Qualifications
42 mos. exp. or 42 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or completion of undergraduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 18 mos. exp. or 18 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or completion of graduate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field; 6 mos. exp. or 6 mos. trg. in accounting &/or finance to include an advanced level of experience in spreadsheet software.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Financial Analyst, 66562.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above. NOTE: Successful completion of the Fiscal Academy may be substituted for 4 mos. of required accounting/fiscal experience referenced in this portion of the minimum qualifications.
