Why does the job exist?
The IT Database Administrator II will:
- Serve as a Database Administrator for the New Mexico Human Services Department.
How does it get done?
The IT Database Administrator II is responsible for:
- Providing support, management, and operation of enterprise MS SQL and Oracle database systems associated with meeting the HSD needs;
- Data reporting and analysis, software installation and maintenance, Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL), database and query performance tuning, database backup and recovery, security, user authentication, capacity planning, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting.

- This position will collaborate with and serve internal and external business and technology stakeholders at all levels.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate has experience with:
- T-SQL, stored procedures, database modeling, and query performance tuning;
- Database maintenance and management experience;
- Exporting, Transforming and Loading (ETL) is required.
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and two (2) years of experience in data analysis, design, storage and security. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
- Employment is subject to a pre-employment criminal history background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
