Why does the job exist?
This position provides software development services to support all department business applications on an operational maintenance and project level. This position serves as a lead developer on projects that are part of the Workforce Solutions project portfolio. This position participates in software application design and architecture by conducting technical reviews, coding oversight, and mentoring.
How does it get done?
This position is responsible for activities in all phases of the software development life cycle. All software development work is tracked via software management tool using tasks to associate the code changes. Upon successful testing and approvals, the code changes will be deployed to a production environment.
Who are the customers?
This position serves The State of New Mexico and its citizens, employers, staff, and third party administrators. This position works closely with staff to perform requirements gathering, analysis, software development, and testing in all phases of the software development life cycle.
Ideal Candidate
Enterprise software design and architecture
Software development in C#/.Net using Visual Studio
Database design and Structured Query Language (Oracle and SQL Server)
DevOps: building code, testing, and deployment using Team Foundation Server
API development and integration (SOAP and REST)
Enterprise Service Bus design and development
Content and Learning Management Systems solution development
Minimum Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and four (4) years of experience in software programming. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT), extensive personal computer and phone usage. Travel statewide is required.
