Description
The Zamboni Driver position is responsible to assist arena personnel in maintaining the ice arena facility and operation of the Zamboni to maintain a safe ice surface for users.
Examples of Duties
Assist arena personnel in maintaining the facility and the operations of the Woog Arena. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, abiding by and enforcing rules and policies pertaining to the facility; providing a safe, clean and customer friendly environment for guests and patrons; assist with opening/closing procedures and document events for each shift; operation of the Zamboni and other ice making equipment; report all problems to supervisor; and, provide direction in the event of an emergency. Other duties include general maintenance, such as; misc. painting, emptying trash, cleaning of building (including locker rooms, bathrooms, player boxes and penalty boxes), maintain cleanliness of public areas (lobby, halls, walls, floors, bleachers, etc.), building and ice maintenance, monitor all areas of building and ensure public does not have access to non-public areas, monitor parking lot for safety and security, and shovel snow and spread salt outside as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous work experience in facility maintenance or similar setting
- High School Graduate or GED
- Age 18 or older
- Valid Driver’s License
- Zamboni experience desired
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the modern principles, practices, methods and techniques of building and grounds maintenance; of occupational hazard and safety precautions; of safe operation of job-related equipment, tools and machinery. Skill in the use of a computer and related software. The ability to perform the following work activities with or without reasonable accommodations:
- Ability to perform varied maintenance duties and operations under general direction.
- Ability to operate and maintain equipment, machinery, and tools in a safe and efficient manner.
- Ability to work in busy and sometimes stressful situations.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor including lifting up to 100 pounds and perform work in a variety of weather conditions.
- Ability to work weekends and evenings, respond willingly to varied work assignments and flexible working hours.
