Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Communications, the Signature Events Manager is responsible for implementing event strategic plans developed by program leadership to engage the law school’s diverse internal and external audiences, including alumni, donors, friends, faculty, staff, volunteers, and the greater community.

Implementation includes planning, coordination, and evaluation of signature events including, but not limited to, the Oregon Supreme Court visit, Frohnmayer Award for Public Service reception, Derrick Bell lecture, Alumni Fall Celebration, Oregon Law Students Public Interest Fund (OLSPIF) dinner and auction, and the Dean’s Advisory Council (DAC) meetings and events.

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including some evenings, weekends, and occasional travel. This position will also require a valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain UO driver’s certification.
Minimum Requirements
• Two years of experience in professional event management

• Ability to manage people, work effectively with volunteers and develop strategies to achieve operating goals.

• Ability to plan and design unique event themes.
• Ability to manage budgets and track expenditures.
• Ability to travel, including nights and weekends.
• Abilities in procuring goods and services from, and negotiating contracts with, vendors.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office and design applications.
• Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
• Ability to adapt as new situations arise.
Preferred Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Familiarity with the field of fundraising.
• Experience working in higher education.
• Familiarity with the University of Oregon, including its constituents, systems, and processes.
