Summer Rec Camp Leader
JOB TITLE: Summer Rec Camp Leader
CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt Part Time
DEPARTMENT: CRE/Recreation
SUPERVISOR: Recreation Coordinator
SALARY: $13.00 to $17.00 per Hour
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
To provide supervision for participants, grades Kindergarten to sixth grade daily. Summer Rec Camp Leaders will be required to interact with participants during program activities, field trips, and assist children in creating crafts. Applicant should be outgoing, patient, creative, and have an enjoyment for children. Summer Rec Camp Leaders will be required to work between 30/40-hour weeks during the 9-week program.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinate and provide support for daily activities for the program participants.
- Actively participate in daily activities and games.
- Aid with program participants while learning new skills such as swimming, roller skating, and bowling.
- Prepare and assist participants with crafts.
- Enforce a variety of program rules, as well as maintains discipline and reports any behavioral issues to the supervisor.
- Address public inquiries about the Summer Rec Camp Program in a courteous manner.
- Maintain a calendar of activities, meetings and various events assigned.

- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Required:
High school student, age fifteen (15) at time of applying.
First aid and CPR certification or obtain one through the program before the first day of camp.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to maintain effective audio-visual discrimination and perception needed for making observations, communicating with others, reading, and writing. The employee is also required to maintain physical condition necessary for operating assigned equipment, walking, standing, kneeling, repeated bending or sitting for prolonged periods of time and lifting to 30 pounds. Maintain mental capacity which allows the capability of making sound decisions demonstrating intellectual capabilities.
Working Environment:
Both indoor and outdoor environment; irregular working hours, including one weekend.
