Job Description
Provide custodial services as assigned for academic programs, maintenance,
and other college departments.
Specific Duties Include:
- General cleaning ,as assigned, including vacuuming, dusting, scrubbing, windows, etc.
- Responsible for checking and maintaining supplies in all restrooms and emptying trash, as needed
- Responsible to collect items in recycling containers in offices
- Responsible for special projects during summer and breaks including stripping, waxing, scrubbing carpets, etc.
- Assist in snow removal
- Responsible to perform assigned role in emergency situations
Required Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications (expected to have to enter job)
Knowledge of
- Different types of flooring/floor covering sufficient to determine proper methods of maintenance and appropriate cleaning methods, materials, agents and equipment.
- Chemical cleaning agents such as ammonia, bleaches, scouring agents and soaps sufficient to
appropriately select the agent(s), handle and apply, and dispose of safely. - Methods, tools, and equipment used in maintenance sufficient to use effectively and operate safely and to make minor repairs.
Ability to:
- Follow simple oral and written instructions.
- Perform assigned tasks with limited work direction.
- Keep simple records.
Preferred Qualifications

- Minimum of 2 years related work experience.
- Experience in operating various custodial and grounds equipment (including forklift and snow removal equipment).
- Boiler operator’s license.
- Knowledge of basic emergency procedures.
- Communication skills needed to report status of building security and repairs to supervisor.
