Account Executive, Automotive

Overview

Ketchum is looking to add an Account Executive to our dynamic Automotive, Energy & Manufacturing team in Southern California! One day a week will be spent in our client’s office in Fountain Valley.

This is a tremendous opportunity to work on high profile accounts, where your work is making a direct impact on our client’s work and helping achieve great results. Experience with thought leadership, event planning and product PR are required. Ideal candidates will match well-rounded PR credentials with automotive, transportation and mobility knowledge, along with familiarity with the media that cover that space. Due to client needs, we’re prioritizing candidates in the greater Los Angeles area, or those willing to relocate. About the Job

Well-qualified candidates will demonstrate:

  • Ability to work in multi-faceted, fast-paced environment
  • Strong sense of client service, with ability to manage tactical projects while also capable of creating strategic programs and counsel
  • Maintain relationships with automotive industry and business media, proactively developing story ideas and pitch angles for clients
  • Familiarity with social media channels, specifically those that reach automotive enthusiasts
  • Develop reports and presentations that concisely communicate programming recommendations and merchandise success of completed projects
  • Analyze media trends to develop insights and POVs that inform client programming
  • Demonstrate a high degree of client engagement through proactive idea generation, creativity and participation in all aspects of the account
  • Play key role in planning and implementation of account activities including special events, media events, media relations, social media, desk-side briefings, program implementation, etc.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively develop full range of written materials including client correspondence, press releases, media pitches, reports, etc.
  • Develop and monitor program plans and budgets for profitability; report status to client and agency management on a regular basis
  • Continually build understanding and knowledge of clients’ business and competitive environments; apply this information in preparing and presenting strategically focused programs and recommendations.
  • Develop an understanding of research methods, coordinate internal and external resources
  • Be flexible and facilitate teamwork within account team; coordinate team resources and create opportunities for junior staff to take on more responsibility; fully utilize agency resources to bring the best of Ketchum to your clients

Qualifications

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skills and knowledge for successful performance would qualify. Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing or a related field preferred
  • Two – three years of experience in public relations agency or a similar position; transportation/automotive experience highly desirable; experience in multicultural marketing a plus
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and manage priorities
  • Ability to work in multi-faceted, fast-paced environment
  • Experience working in media with an existing set of relationships
  • Enthusiastic about automotive, transportation and mobility with a high degree of personal interest in these categories

The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $68,000. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, past training, skills and abilities of applicant, internal equity and local geographic market data. A range of medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and/or other benefits also are available.
