The Account Manager has the primary role of prospecting, estimating, selling and managing HVAC, plumbing, controls and sheetmetal projects. They will be based out of the Sacramento, CA office. They will coordinate with the estimating team and Special Projects Manager as needed to create estimates and proposals for customers. They will be on a team of 7 people and will work closely with the Special Project Coordinators to ensure project support objectives are met within the standards and quality guidelines set by the SP Manager.
This person will need to actively maintain personal contact with assigned key accounts. Cold call and secure new business with General Contractors, Property managers, facility managers and any potential client. Follow-up on leads that develop through the service department in both the Sacramento and Bay Area markets. Overall, they will be responsible for building customer relationships that will produce and bring work to the SP team.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Manages the design of the project in conjunction with the Engineering team.
2. Ensures all equipment and materials are on the job site when needed according to the project schedule with the help of the Project Coordinators and General Superintendents.
3. Ensures project kick-off meetings are held with appropriate personnel, in accordance with the standards and quality guidelines set by the SP team Manager.
4. Ensures project estimates are converted to budgets and schedule of values are entered within two weeks after receiving signed proposal or contract.
5. Review Budget with Field/Superintendents prior to submission to accounting.
6. Actively manages the planned vs. actual project scheduling and cost to assure these items remain under control and takes immediate action to correct the situation should problems develop. Communicates any problem to SP manager immediately.
7. Ensures that all Change Order authorizations are received before construction work is initiated, or that paperwork follow up is done to obtain signed Change Orders as soon as practical.
8. Provides resources and assistance to the Project Coordinators for preparation of submittals.
9. Meet Monthly, Quarterly and yearly sales goals.
10. Update Pipedrive daily.
11. Assures that complete project closeout packages are prepared by the Project Coordinators and submitted to the client according to the project document requirements to assure final billings and project specific retention funds are not delayed.
12. Provide PM sales manager contact and equipment submittals/lists with purpose of securing project maintenance contract.
13. Provides data and general assistance to Accounting for invoicing customers and contracts in progress for work done on projects and provides collection assistance when necessary.
14. Utilize company resources such as estimating team, SP manager, engineering team and field in the preparation and delivery of customer proposals, estimates and presentations.
15. Reviews with SP Manager, and revise if appropriate, his or her personal job-related objectives and evaluates the achievements of such objectives Bi-monthly.
16. Report to work on time and maintain an excellent attendance record.
17. Execute all duties & responsibilities in a professional manner.
18. Abide by the policies, rules and procedures as contained in the company’s Employee Handbook.
19. The SP Salesperson performs other duties as assigned by the SP Manager, Service Operations Manager or General Manager.
20. Updates CIP Monthly, on-time, as required by the CFO or Controller.
21. Follows the account authorities.
Required Skills & Experience
* Minimum three (3) years of sales experience in HVAC and control systems or a related field
* General industry knowledge of estimating for HVAC, plumbing, hydronic, or controls projects
* Proficient in QuoteSoft or any other estimating software
* Proven track record of success in technical sales, through prospecting and relationship building
* Self-sufficient leader who can meet and exceed sales goals
* Ability to travel within assigned geographic area to meet with customers
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
* Established book of business or contacts with general contractors, property managers, and facility managers
* Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience
