Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration is preferred.
Requirements:
- Must be proficient using Excel to create and maintain complex spreadsheets and Microsoft Office 2007 applications (Word and Outlook).
- Two (2) or more years of accounting experience with the State of Florida or two (2) years or more of professional or nonprofessional accounting experience.
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required professional, nonprofessional or State of Florida accounting experience.
- Two (2) or more years of customer service dealing with internal and external customers as well as individuals.
Additional preferences:
- Two (2) or more years of experience maintaining and preparing accounting and financial reports.
- Two (2) or more years of experience working with FLAIR.
- Two (2) or more years of reconciliation experience.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in analyzing and resolving exception items, discrepancy items, and or correcting items in an accounting and/or banking environment.
Interview will consist of: Oral interview questions and work samples. Work samples will be answered using Microsoft 2007 Word and Excel.
Due to the job duties of this position, the work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday.
We anticipate the starting salary for this position to be at least $40,000.00.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of methods of data collection. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports. Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records. Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data. Ability to independently analyze and use problem-solving techniques. Ability to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team structure. Knowledge of and ability to use Word and Excel applications.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
1. Process funds deposited into the Treasury daily.
2. Assist with the following processes:
- Monitor UC and Current Day EFT Notifications in CMS updating transactions as funds are received by the financial institution to ensure transactions are prepared and ready for posting prior to the FLAIR 3:00 p.m. closing daily.
- Perform Treasury Concentration Account cash positioning activities between the financial institution and the Treasury Investment Section by analyzing bank data and reports by 8:00 a.m. daily.
- Enter Inter-Bank wire transfer data into CMS executed by the Investment Section.
- Perform CMS end-of-day close for transactions submitted to Central FLAIR for processing prior to 3:00 p.m. daily.
- Analyze CRA cash position and perform investment or disinvestment procedures in SPIA based on the account balance by 10:30 a.m. daily.
3. Process and balance wires received into the Treasury.
4. Perform receipts morning balance routine.
- Audit and balance Receipts Application reports to previous day’s receipts and debit memos processed in FLAIR ensuring that report totals agree for all components.
- Analyze receipt exception reports of items not verified or reconciled.
- Distribute reports and daily work processed to the appropriate areas
5. Perform CMS afternoon balance routine by matching receipt totals to the Departmental FLAIR verified receipts report.
6. Resolve all types of customer service inquiries related to the Receipts Section.
7. Perform other tasks as directed within the Cash Management Section.
