Accounting Clerk| Miami Beach Convention Center

Nestled in the heart of Miami Beach, the state-of-the-art convention center offers flexible special event and exhibition spaces near beautiful beaches, fine dining and 5-star resorts. We are looking for an administration and hospitality professional to join our team as an Accounting Clerk.

This role will pays a wage of $21 to $24.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Clerk is responsible for analyzing, verifying, and posting transactions to journals, ledgers, and other records. Position will analyze, investigate, and correct accounting entries as needed and perform reconciliation of complex financial transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounts Payable:

  • Post approved purchase invoices into the accounting system.
  • Post authorized expenses and ensure they are compliant with the policy.
  • Prepare weekly vendor payment run and ensure purchase invoices are paid within due terms.
  • Perform weekly and monthly reconciliations to resolve expense discrepancies.
  • Compare supplier statements of accounts to accounting system records, investigate and resolve any AP discrepancies.
  • Ensure unauthorized invoices are investigated and cleared.

Accounts Receivable:

  • Assist with settlement invoices.
  • Produce statements of accounts for clients, as needed.
  • Work with sales staff to contact customers with overdue balances and resolve AR issues or discrepancies.
  • Post customer payments onto the accounting system in a timely manner.
  • Prepare weekly debtors report with commentary on problems debtors (past due)

Other:

  • Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing process.
  • Assist with the annual audit process.
  • Provide coverage support for the Accounting Department during holidays, and as needed based on business needs.
  • Be aware of and comply with the company policies and guidelines in areas related to human resources, IT, administration, accounting, audits, and working hours.
  • Other duties, responsibilities and special projects as assigned by the Director of Finance or Accounting Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s degree in accounting or at least three years of a satisfactory combination of experience, education, and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties is required.
  • At least three years of general accounting experience with a public assembly facility or hotels preferred.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Good computer skills with a knowledge of standard bookkeeping and spreadsheet programs
  • Excellent math skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff, including management and clients. Excellent organizational, planning, communication, and interpersonal skills.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should know accounting software (Sage 100 Preferred)
  • Must have advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office 365 (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS SharePoint and MS Outlook).

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • The work schedule for this position typically involves a 5-day work week Monday through Friday 8:30AM-5PM which are the Administrative Offices regular business hours. However, schedule may fluctuate based upon the needs of the community, special projects assigned and/or events.
  • Must have the ability to work some irregular hours which may include overtime due to business needs and may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
