Overview
Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Accounting Manager monitors, controls, and audits all hospitality financial transactions at the McCormick Place Convention Center/Wintrust Arena. This role performs a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting and financial analysis of the facility.
This role will pay a salary of $85,000 to $90,000.

McCormick Place located in downtown Chicago is the largest and most flexible convention center in North America. With over 2.6 million square feet of exhibition space, the campus proudly hosts some of the world’s largest and most prestigious conventions, meetings, and trade shows, welcoming approximately 3 million visitors to Chicago every year.
Responsibilities
- Perform all general accounting functions including general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Key data into accounting software for A/P, A/R, and general journal entries.
- Reviews all contracts for client, events, subcontractors, food and beverage or concessionaires.
- Processes and prepares hospitality accounts receivable invoices, and purchasing and payables processes.
- Oversee processing for payroll processes, including auditing of employee timecard data.
- Manage/confirm processing of any reports required for CBA compliance.
- Manage Event Deposit process for Convention Center and Arena.
- Verify & post entries to general ledger accounts; run trial balances.
- Assist with month end closing procedures and adjusting journal entries.
- Prepares monthly financial statements for the client and corporate, and other financial reports, including monthly statements, annual budget and annual report.
- Analyze financial performance and cost analyses for all departments; recommends appropriate actions/changes in order to meet business goals.
- Prepares select event settlements and generate account transfers or check payments.
- Perform analysis of accounting records; prepare event profitability statements.
- Prepares and performs bank reconciliations.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and select GL accounts.
- Support cash management and daily cash flow monitoring within the Finance department.
- Directs internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.
- Audits receipts and disbursements to ensure accuracy for public shows and resolves credit card charge backs.
- Examine and verify a variety of financial documents and reports.
- Assist Director of Finance with budget preparation, financial reporting, and analyses.
- Coordinates year-end report of fiscal performance for the General Manager’s report.
- Apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
- Directs the installation and maintenance of any new accounting, timekeeping, payroll, inventory, and other related procedures and controls.
- Establishes system controls for new financial systems and develops procedures to improve existing systems.
- Reviews financial statements with management personnel.
- Acts as Manager on Duty as required.
- Other miscellaneous projects.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration or a closely related field.
- 3-5 years of professional accounting experience, preferably including some supervisory experience. Some experience in the venue management industry preferred but not required.
- Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines.
- Capable of working with all levels of management
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
- Knowledge of Ungerboeck, POS, and catering software preferred.
