Position Summary:
The Accounting Operations Manager is responsible for developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This includes areas related to general ledger preparation, financial reporting, 401(k) and year-end audit preparation, accounts payable, grant billing, payroll, and working with the Director of Finance to ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

- Accounting – Manage accounting functions as well as financial systems to ensure accurate accounting of the organization’s operations, management reporting of this information and data integrity of the general ledger.
- Leadership & Management – Provide leadership and management of staff by providing clear goals and objectives, staff development, retention and appropriate distribution of responsibilities to ensure departmental process and procedures are effectively and efficiently delivered to all internal and external customers.
- Project Management – Provide leadership and management of special projects, providing clear goals and objectives, communication plan, and deliverables. Projects include: Accounting software upgrades, accounts payable automation and workflow, lease renewals, new accounting pronouncement research, analysis and implementation, grant accounting improvements, among others.
- 401(k) – Communicate with employees and former employees regarding completion of 401(k) documents and researches and processes distributions from the plan, including hardship withdrawals.
- Audits – Coordinate audit and audit review activities with external auditors to ensure optimal value and timely completion.
Job Pay & Perks:
- Typical starting pay range: $85,000-$100,000/year

About You:
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of GAAP.
- Strong business acumen and logical problem solver.
- Demonstrated competence with general ledger software (Great Plains Dynamics preferred), along with proficiency in various report writers and applications.
- Solid experience with Microsoft Office to include advanced Excel skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work with diverse groups of people.
- Demonstrated leadership and coaching skills.
- Ability and desire to provide excellent internal and external customer service.
Prior Experience & Education:
- 5-8 years of relevant finance and accounting experience required.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or related field required.
- Experience with ERP required; Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) experience preferred.
- Non-profit accounting experience preferred.
