Pay Range: $15.60-$16.48 (Pay information will vary depending upon relevant experience for the position)
QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: B.S. preferred in Recreation Therapy, Physical Education or Leisure Management. AAS degree in Recreation or related field and two years’ experience in older adult services is acceptable. Must have a valid, current, New York State driver license. Will consider a combination of education and experience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Routinely assess residents’ interests to determine appropriate activities.
- Research and design a variety of activity programs that can be enjoyed by residents who have preferences for one or more of the general categories.
- Order and maintain necessary supplies/food items for programming within approved budget.
- Select and assign outside instructors for activities within the program budget.
- Plan and implement a variety of evening, weekend, holiday, and off campus activities.
- Assist in the development and distribution of weekly activity calendars unique to enriched living.
- Assist in completion of reports, activity assessment upon admission and PRN.
- May drive Summit vehicles or accompanies other drivers on scheduled resident outings.
- Coordinate the formation of and facilitates the Resident Council meetings.

EXPERIENCE: One-year experience in the Recreation or Leisure industry in working with older adults.
RELATION TOTHER POSITIONS: Daily contact with and ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, community healthcare agencies and visitors.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS: Sits 0-25% of the day. May be required to lift (and/or move) 20-50 pounds. Frequent twisting, bending, squatting, walking, pushing and pulling. Works on level surfaces and uneven surfaces. May have to respond to resident or equipment emergencies. May have to drive a van or bus. Ability to deliver various programs/classes/activities as required. Ability to make independent decisions and work in a fast-paced environment. Physical intensity level 3.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Works in well-lighted, ventilated office area.
ADVERSE WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to infections, disease and disagreeable odors.
May be subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members and visitors.
VARIABLES: May be required to work weekends, holidays and evenings.
