JOB SUMMARY

JOB SUMMARY

Staffs the front desk at the City’s Activity Center; provides customer service and assistance to patrons; processes program registrations and equipment rentals; monitors patron activities; assists with cleaning and maintaining Activity Center facilities; and performs other related duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DECISION MAKING

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Staffs the front desk and provides customer service to Activity Center patrons:
    • Responds to customers inquiries in person and over the telephone; provides information regarding facilities and athletic programming.
    • Directs users to correct areas of facility.
    • Assists patrons with program registrations and equipment/locker rentals.
    • Collects and processes registration fees.
  • Participates in cleaning and maintaining Activity Center facilities:
    • Performs routine janitorial work; wipes down fitness/weight equipment.
    • Identifies and reports maintenance issues to supervisor.
    • Assists with set up and take down of tables and chairs.
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Participates in training new employee as required.
    • Assists with special projects as assigned.

DECISION MAKING

  • This position works under general supervision.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Salary is dependent upon qualifications)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One (1) year recreation center and/or customer service experience is required.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification is required within six (6) months of employment.

  • Must be able to read and comprehend departmental policies and program documentation.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with City departments and personnel, vendors, facility renters, patrons, and the general public.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include lifting up to 45 pounds occasionally. Subject to vision and hearing constantly; standing, sitting, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, balancing and talking occasionally; kneeling, crouching, crawling, twisting and climbing rarely.

Working conditions involve exposure to hazardous chemicals, infectious diseases, and potentially irate members of the public.
