Actuarial Consultant, Reserving, Planning, & Forecasting

Zurich North America is currently looking for an Actuarial Consultant to join our Business Unit (BU) Reserving, Planning, & Forecasting Team. Our preference is to have this position based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, but we are also open to talent based out of our New York, Overland Park, and Omaha offices. We are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.

As a part of the Planning & Forecasting Team, you will partner with other Zurich Business Unit Actuaries, Planning & Performance Management, and Zurich Capital Management teams to holistically bring together periodic forecasts and plan materials. This role will also coordinate Zurich responses to Group Capital Management and support the tools related to capital and expected loss ratios. Additionally, this role supports some financial components related to IFRS 17 accounting.

In this role you will use your insurance knowledge, portfolio insight, and analytical skills to perform analyses, enhance influence and understanding, and communicate outcomes to business leaders, finance, and actuarial colleagues across the organization. Your analysis will support an array of projects, including:

  • Collaborating with Pricing and Reserving to assist with Expected Loss Ratio reviews
  • Implementation and communication of IFRS 17 accounting standards
  • Supporting data and analyses used in Zurich-Economic Capital Modeling
  • Delivering timely and accurate Plan and Forecast submissions
  • Utilizing digital tools, dashboards, and further automation to improve processes .

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
    AND
  • ACAS or equivalent international certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner
  • Actuarial experience that includes a combination of reserving and pricing experience, diversified business lines that include commercial lines of business
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical staff effectively

The salary range for this role is $135,000 – $168,750. This is the range Zurich NA in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
