Actuarial Consultant / Senior Actuarial Consultant, Statutory Reserving & Governance

Zurich North America is looking for an Actuarial Consultant / Senior Actuarial Consultant to join our Statutory Reserving & Governance team. Our preference is to have this position based out of our North American Headquarters in Schaumburg, Illinois, but we are also open to talent in based out of our Chicago, New York, Overland Park, and Omaha offices. We are offering the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely. You will collaborate with your manager to set a schedule that supports you, your customers, and the team.

This new role will be a part of our Statutory Reserving & Governance team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing and communicating reserve analyses for Zurich Global Limited, our Bermuda Affiliate (reinsurance portfolio) and Special Studies as well as performing related close processes, Reserve Committee preparation and financial reporting, and supporting related regulatory / governance deliverables.

In this role, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure accurate and timely reserve analyses and reporting
  • Support financial reporting, including statutory financial statements and the SAO
  • Lead the execution and completion of business-as-usual and ad-hoc projects
  • Establish and maintain excellent communication and collaboration with key stakeholders

This role will be filled at either the Actuarial Consultant or Senior Actuarial Consultant level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based upon the selected applicant’s experience and skill set relative to the qualifications listed for this position.

Actuarial Consultant Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or Actuarial Sciences and 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
    AND
  • ACAS or equivalent international certification

Senior Actuarial Consultant Basic Qualifications:

  • Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including Associates Degree
    OR
  • Bachelor’s Degree
    AND
  • 5 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus FCAS or equivalent international certification
    OR
  • 10 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area plus ACAS or equivalent international certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, and capital management) and knowledge/skills reflective of a senior practitioner
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

The salary range for this role at the Actuarial Consultant level is $128,600 – $160,750. The salary range for this role at the Senior Actuarial Consultant level is $166,300 – $207,875. This is the range Zurich North America, in good faith, believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of the posting. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in New York City. Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. This job is also bonus eligible. No amount is considered to be wages or compensation until such amount is earned, vested, and determinable.
