We are hiring a Manager in our Pyxis organization. Pyxis is the Builder Tools team responsible for supporting region builds, major migrations (in US Amazon Dedicated Clouds (ADC)), and delivering tooling supporting automation, software development, CI/CD, and operations.
Key job responsibilities
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
– Lead the deployment and operation of services in regions with specialized security needs
– Drive root cause analyses, and coach / collaborate with others on doing them
– Drive continual improvement in systems operations through tool building and automation
– Define roadmaps for our services, drive projects and report on their progress
– Build, grow and manage a team engineers. Define staffing plans for these regions
– Collaborate with and learn from world leaders in distributed systems development and operations
– Work in an environment where operational excellence is truly the first priority
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and obtain and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. In compliance with the U.S. government requirement that employees of its contractors, and employees who work on or in connection with U.S government contracts must receive the COVID-19 vaccine, this position may require that the candidate selected be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Engineering, or Mathematics or equivalent experience.
– 7 + years of relevant hands-on systems engineering and administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems
– 3 + years of experience as the systems engineering and operations leader for an Internet service or leading edge IT organization
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Demonstrated success building and leading teams
– Deep experience with Linux
– IT security experience
– Systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
– Leading development life cycle processes and best practices, esp. in the areas of deployment automation and monitoring
– Mentoring/training engineers
– Communication skills, both written and verbal
– Deployment and usage of monitoring systems
– Leading software development organizations in a “DevOps” model
– Exposure with distributed systems at scale
– Experience with Agile engineering practices (Kanban, continuous delivery, etc.)
– Experience designing software architecture for scalability, reliability and performance
– Using AWS on commercial or government a plus

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $258,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
