Description
Under the direction of the Administrative Officer, the Administrative Assistant supports agency leadership by performing routine accounting and personnel duties. The Administrative Assistant will help staff gain access to State computer systems and reset passwords. This position will also assist in compiling data, creating reports, and gathering information for audits or monitoring. This position may provide back up in staffing the front desk, answering agency phones, or completing mail room tasks.All employees in DSS must be human services oriented and possess the ability to interact well with co-workers, clients, and the general public. The individual in this position must respond to disasters as needed in accordance with Montgomery County DSS policy in the event of a natural or man-made disaster or upon the declaration of a state of emergency by the Montgomery County Emergency Management Office.
Examples of Duties
- Significant knowledge of office or work unit procedures, methods, and practices.
- Significant knowledge of and ability to use correct spelling, punctuation, and specialized vocabulary; ability to proofread.
- General knowledge of office accounting and record-keeping procedures and their application in the work environment.
- Ability to maintain routine financial accounting data following standardized methods and procedures.
- Ability to report data in standardized formats.
- Ability to screen communications based on predetermined guidelines.
- Ability to gather and give information and instructions regarding the work process and procedures.
Required Qualifications
Graduation from high school and demonstrated possession of knowledge, skills and abilities gained through at least two years of administrative/bookkeeping experience; or an Associate’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Human Resources.
Must possess and maintain a valid North Carolina Driver’s License.
