Description
Under general supervision, provides assistance with the operation and administration of the Lancaster County Animal Shelter, to include intake and routine care of animals, adoptions, regulatory documentation, and general administrative tasks. Scheduled hours for this position include some evenings and holidays, and some weekends during the month are required. Duties include but are not limited to: Updates, edits, and corrects data files, to include medical files, for animals within the facility using Pet Point software; Creates and submits animal profiles to help with rescue; Adhere to the State laws and County ordinances pertaining to animals and the shelter; Assists with animal intake and general care as needed; Assists with the rescues and volunteers who come to pull animals; Administers vaccines and medications as prescribed by a veterinarian; Maintains social media applications under the direction of the Animal Shelter Supervisor; Answers the phone and helps with the public coming in to adopt animals; as well as other duties as required.
Typical Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent. Two years of prior experience in an animal shelter or SPCA required. Must have a valid Driver’s license. Prior experience with animal shelter tracking software and microchipping programs preferred. Must be able to receive Rabies vaccinations as a requirement of the position. Ability to perform physically demanding work including, but not limited to, regularly lifting and carrying up to 70 pounds, standing for prolonged periods, squatting, stooping, bending, twisting, stretching, crawling, and reaching overhead. Must be able to climb stairs; bend, reach, hold, grasp and turn objects.
