About the Agency: The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is a state agency dedicated to helping Mississippians with disabilities to live and work independently. MDRS serves through four major programs: Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Vocational Rehabilitation for the Blind (VRB), Office of Special Disability Programs (OSDP), and Disability Determination Services (DDS). Services also include support through Assistive Technology, the Office of Business Development and much more. About the Position: This position is within the agency’s Office of Communication and will provide high-level administrative support to the Director of Communication. Principle responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:• Performs clerical and administrative tasks including drafting letters, memos, spreadsheets, and reports, including confidential information.• Arranges travel and accommodations for communication team.• Receives incoming communication on behalf of communication team, reviews contents, determines importance, and summarizes and/or distributes contents to appropriate staff.• Performs office tasks including maintaining records, ordering supplies, and performing basic bookkeeping.• Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies.• Liaises with MDRS staff to handle requests and queries for agency brochures, marketing resources and materials.• Contributes to team effort by performing other related duties as assigned.

What you’ll need to be Successful: Extensive knowledge of office administration, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail; Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to function well in a high-paced environment. Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite with the ability to learn new or updated software.
