Why Mayo Clinic

Mayo Clinic has been ranked the #1 hospital in the nation by U.S. News & World Report, as well as #1 in more specialties than any other care provider. And with continuing education and advancement opportunities at every turn, you can build a long, successful career with Mayo Clinic. You’ll thrive in an environment that supports innovation, is committed to ending racism and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion, and provides the resources you need to succeed.

Responsibilities

We are searching for driven, enthusiastic talent to join our team. The primary purpose of the Administrative Apprenticeship is to provide a new college graduate with the experience, knowledge, and skills to successfully transition to an entry role on the Mayo Clinic team.

The apprentice’s responsibilities include learning specialized tasks in their chosen field through actual job training under the supervision of tenured staff.
An apprentice’s duties include but are not limited to performing administrative tasks as needed, providing possible recommendations on improving productivity, participating in classes and/or workshops on and off-site, observing all health and safety codes, completing assignments, as well as delivering presentations to staff and other stakeholders. You should be well-organized, flexible, and willing to assist wherever possible. The duration of the administrative apprenticeship is approximately one year.

The MAYO CLINIC PRESS is seeking an ADMINISTRATIVE APPRENTICE to assist the EDITORIAL TEAM in all aspects of the editorial and production process, bringing books, short form and digital content to life. The ideal candidate has a background in writing and communication, an eye for detail, and a passion for storytelling around health and wellness. This is a one-year position, with the goal of gaining the necessary skills and experience to qualify for the role of ASSISTANT PRODUCTION EDITOR at the end of the apprenticeship. This position is 100% remote.

Successful apprentices must have great time management skills and be willing to fit into the existing staff structure. Outstanding apprentices respond well to criticism, build good relationships with colleagues, and ultimately make a lasting impression.

Mentors will be assigned to the apprentice to help support, guide, and develop the individual for success.
