The Nevada Supreme Court is seeking an Administrative Assistant in Carson City. In the Supreme Court Clerk’s Office, you will play a pivotal role in providing essential administrative support to management and deputy clerks. Your days will be filled with exciting challenges, where you will utilize independent judgment and personal initiative while taking on a diverse array of duties.

Examples of Duties / Knowledge & Skills

  • Answer phones as needed and provide information or transfer calls as necessary.
  • Assist the public at the counter with filings and questions.
  • Enter filing fees and other payments in check register log.
  • Assist deputy clerks with document processing.
  • Notify counsel when necessary documents are filed.
  • Proof orders for accuracy before they are distributed (file stamp, signatures, docket entries).
  • Retrieve records, correspondence files and exhibits when requested by court staff and public.
  • File daily in the records room; re-file records, exhibits and other documents.
  • Assist with maintaining records room; keep records room orderly, moving files from open to closed area when case closes, and reorganizing files on shelves as necessary.
  • Copy and scan documents as requested for public and court staff.
  • Process incoming mail: open, sort, and distribute mail daily.
  • Print envelopes and mail counsel copies of orders.
  • Prepare receipt for documents including but not limited to new cases, proper person documents, records and other documents as required.
  • Assist with mail runs if needed.
  • Keep supplies maintained in front office, including paper, pens, staples, post-its, etc.
  • Record court proceedings and post to the Supreme Court’s website.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum qualifications & Requirements
To be considered for this opportunity, candidates should meet the following qualifications:

  1. Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent education.
  2. Demonstrated experience in clerical and administrative support, totaling at least two years. This experience should include duties such as maintaining records; preparing a diverse range of materials using a personal computer; and/or carrying out secretarial duties in support of professional staff.
  3. Alternatively, candidates who have served as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State Service for a minimum of one year are also eligible to apply.
  4. Additionally, an equivalent combination of education and experience, as detailed above, will be considered.
