Position Overview
The Administrative Coordinator II located in the Animal Services Department performs a full range of administrative and technical program support duties requiring a comprehensive understanding of the work processes, procedures, laws and regulations of the Animal Services Department as well as understanding the department’s mission, rules, programs and services. This position independently coordinates the customer service staff’s support of the department and its customers, including complex processes and public contact interactions.
Examples of Duties
- Provide supervision of the Office Processing Assistants and participate in the hiring process, performance appraisal, and disciplinary issues for those staff
- Assign work, provide training, direct operational activities; guide and ensure daily workflow and assignments are complete in concurrence with work goals and in a timely manner
- Ensure all work complies with the rules, laws, and regulations applicable to the work assigned
- Participate in the resolution of daily customer issues and work process issues while consulting with other department supervisors regarding departmental operations as needed
- Provide general and technical assistance to the public regarding issues in the assigned program areas
- Development or modification of operational policies and procedures as needed
- Determine and assign training for customer service staff as needed to improve customer relations and overall job functions and meet departmental goals
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited two-year college or technical school with a degree in accounting, business management or related field and four (4) years of experience in the assigned program area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Manager’s Preference:
One (1) year supervisory experience, particularly in an animal shelter or veterinary hospital environment

- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisor, employees, and the public
