What You’ll Do:

Ohio Department of Public Safety – Ohio State Highway Patrol

Report In Location: 1970 W Broad Street, Columbus 43220

[CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE] Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 day a week. Subject to change.

Performs non routine administrative tasks to support the Ohio State Highway Patrol Planning, Research & Development Major including but not limited to independently formulates decisions &/or judgments involving non-legal interpretation of policies & procedures as they would apply to given situation to resolve problems, prepare correspondence &/or reports or to carry out other assignments (e.g., responds to correspondence; reviews & summarizes personnel reports; represents supervisor at meetings or conferences with other agencies); Communicates decisions, directives &/or assignments to appropriate staff; Represents division or agency on inter-divisional task forces or committees; Reviews & summarizes reports on personnel activities; Organizes conferences.

Performs secretarial tasks (e.g., prepares confidential correspondence &/or reports (e.g., strategic planning documents, research project documents); maintains confidential files (e.g., administrative investigations); maintains calendar &/or makes travel arrangements for supervisor; takes minutes of meetings); Handles sensitive telephone calls or contacts; Channels calls to appropriate parties for response; Coordinates retirement credential process; Processes saved by the belt awards; Establishes new hire equipment requests with IT.

Performs clerical tasks (e.g., receives, opens, logs, distributes incoming mail; answers phone & screens calls; greets & directs visitors; maintains files & retrieves information); Assists with section events (e.g., setup/tear down; event registration, etc.); Prepares routine forms; Prepares records retention & disposal schedules & arranges record transfers; Maintains training files for entire section; Orders office supplies & enters purchase requisitions; Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Completion of associate core coursework in secretarial science or business office applications from accredited career school or community college; 12 mos. exp. in secretarial/administrative professional field.

-Or 30 mos. exp. or 30 mos. trg. in secretarial/administrative professional field.

-Or 12 mos. exp. as Administrative Professional 2,16872.

-Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications For Employment noted above.
