Advanced Production Scheduler, Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

As an Advanced Production Scheduler, you will lead schedule creation, change management and program execution for critical satellite development and production campaigns pertaining to the satellite environmental test value stream. You will be a key team member connecting high level program schedules to tactical work order management on the production floor each day.

The ideal candidate is familiar working in a fast paced, highly ambiguous environment, has hands-on manufacturing experience, and can communicate effectively with engineering, shop floor technicians, and leadership.

Key job responsibilities

  • Collaborate with multiple teams across Kuiper to synchronize constantly changing engineering and manufacturing requirements, delivery dates and satellite schedules for both production and R&D satellite campaigns.
  • Coordinate and review input from engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and business development to support and maintain schedules for satellite assemblies using SmartSheet, Microsoft Project, and/or other industry software solutions.
  • Plan, execute and close anywhere from 1-200 work orders in SAP a day on the production floor, load-balancing resources and personnel to achieve Kuiper program priorities for satellite test.
  • Determine and organize rapid phase-in and phase-out dates for effectivity of designs, processes, tests and equipment.
  • Create kanban pull systems to visually manage work-in-process across multiple manufacturing work flows.
  • Lead efforts to uncover root-cause and develop permanent resolution on issues found during product builds as required using build business metrics and queries.
  • Troubleshoot part shortages and part distribution issues from upstream sources with the Production planning team and Quality team, working with manufacturing engineers to ensure hardware arrives to the floor on-time.
  • Communicate planned delivery dates and blockers to downstream customers such as the final integration team.
  • Work with maintenance teams to incorporate scheduled down-time for any required equipment preventative maintenance and/or facility upgrades.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly status updates and reports to leadership teams on schedule performance and decision making.
  • Meet daily with the production operations team at standup to tactically determine priorities and work order needs for the day to meet overall business needs.

Export Control Requirement:

A day in the life

The Advanced Production Scheduler will lead development of foundational scheduling processes essential to the success of Kuiper satellite manufacturing. As the team transitions from development to rate production there are multiple opportunities to own a substantial stake in developing scheduling tools and processes.

  • Develop tactical shop floor scheduling processes to support two shifts of environmental testing operations.
  • Support project management of key equipment & material readiness activities during production ramp-up.
  • Build iterative ramp-up scheduling plans to anticipate equipment, labor and inventory needs to support production rate increases.
  • Establish reporting mechanisms to track production performance for Delivery and Inventory metrics.
  • Anticipate bottlenecks, manage risk and escalations, and balance the operational needs versus technical constraints.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field or 3+ years of manufacturing scheduling experience or equivalent.
  • 3+ years technical product or program management experience
  • 3+ years with SmartSheet, Microsoft Project, SAP, Sharepoint or similar scheduling tool experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
