Advanced Systems Manager II – National Defense Business Development, Capture and Bid

We are currently recruiting for an Advanced Systems Manager in the National Defense (ND) business unit of Ball Aerospace, to support the Space Domain Awareness portfolio of activities. The position reports to a Mission Area which executes programs that consist of a wide variety of space-based hardware/software and ground solutions for Government and prime contractor customers within the US Government and commercial marketplace. This position will be supporting business development activities across the TCPED capability space and program lifecycle in support of efforts associated with the Space Domain Awareness Mission Area.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and monitor capture activities including definition of tasks, budgets, and schedules.
  • Define, secure, organize, and direct staff, resources, standards, processes, procedures, and tools essential for the successful completion of capture activities (from interest to program bid & award).
  • Prioritize opportunities to align with our strategic vision for technology and mission development.
  • Develop plans and strategies to capture opportunities.
  • Manage business development and engineering personnel to carry out capture plans and strategies, and to produce solutions that meet customers’ mission needs.
  • Lead the preparation of responses to customer opportunities, including white papers, proposals, rough order of magnitude estimates and responses to customer requests for information.
  • Coordinate inputs from support organizations including engineering, contracts, finance, security, and others as needed.
  • Maintain productive relationships and coordinate contacts with key government and industry customers.
  • Consult, mentor, and/or support the pursuits and programs of other advanced systems managers as needed.
  • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

What You’ll Need:

  • BS/BA in related field plus 10 years or more related experience.
  • Each higher-level degree, i.e. Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Two years of related experience may be substituted for each year of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
  • Degree in Engineering, Math, or Physics is preferred.
  • A current, active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
  • Solid background in current Space Domain Awareness and Space Traffic Management systems, capabilities, and overall marketplace, including government and commercial priorities.
  • Solid background in classified aerospace sensing systems with emphasis on experience across functionality of complete Collection Segment (space, ground, spacecraft, payload, BMC3) and TCPED capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience leading strategic initiatives and developing strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated experience with scoping and executing internal research and development (IRAD) programs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing program / project budgets or cost accounts in excess of $5M.
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with demanding customers, difficult schedules, and technically challenging projects.
  • Experience in supporting DoD and/or IC proposals as well as knowledge of government acquisition processes and strategies.
  • A self-starter with the ability to understand the big picture as well as technical, budget and schedule issues at the detail level.
  • Must be comfortable and competent with MS Office computer tools including: Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation development and delivery skills.

Full-Time On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site full-time. Travel and local commute between Ball campuses and other possible non-Ball locations may be required.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • HIRING SALARY RANGE: $139,500 – $193,500 (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
