Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Donor Relations, the Advancement Communications Manager is responsible for the creation of strategic marketing content in support of the School of Law’s advancement initiatives including alumni and donor programming, fundraising, stewardship, website content, and alumni and donor engagement.
The Advancement Communications Manager will offer a creative approach that transforms ideas from the School of Law and campus community into advancement-driven content in coordination with the advancement team and the law school communications team.
The Advancement Communications Manager is responsible for working with the law school advancement team and communications team to create and implement a comprehensive communications program that appropriately – and consistently – promotes interaction, engagement, and recognition of alumni and donors at all levels. The communications plan will include, but not be limited to, integrated messaging for all advancement communications (solicitation appeals, invitations, newsletters, website content, annual fundholder stewardship, individual stewardship), incorporating law school’s approved branding, and add creative ways to highlight and feature a broad spectrum of Carolina Law donors and alumni.
The Advancement Communications Manager will manage a student employee and/or intern who will assist the implementation of the overall communications plan by completing internal tasks as assigned.
The Advancement Communications Manager will partner with all advancement functional areas to ensure all communications are unified in message and support the law school’s efforts to educate, cultivate, and recognize donors. The Advancement communications Manager will collaborate closely with the Director of Development and Donor Relations and the Associate Dean for Advancement to build a culture of high achievement and accountability among the advancement team, as well as develop strong, professional relationships with the law school and communications professionals across campus.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to collaborate with teams with individual expectations, deliverables, and accountability as well as inspire team collaboration.
Ability to manage multiple advancement activities simultaneously and coordinate development strategies in collaboration with law school and university partners.
Ability to work collaboratively with leadership to plan and implement a communications plan.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
High level of creativity, initiative, and motivation. Team oriented and willingness to set a leadership example for all members of the advancement team.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Leading candidates should have communication’s and/or marketing experience. Knowledge of WordPress environment a plus. Previous experience in a higher education setting preferred.
