The AeGIS (Artificial Generative Intelligence Security) team within the Microsoft Security group is tasked with ensuring the security of generative AI products across Microsoft. This includes all of the “copilots,” their extensions, our AI platform, and their integrations into Microsoft’s products. We work closely with other teams in Security (such as software assurance and incident response), teams with related functions (such as Microsoft Research, Responsible AI, Privacy, and Legal), outside stakeholders (such as OpenAI and governmental and non-governmental organizations), and the individual product teams to identify threat scenarios, develop mitigation strategies and best practices, develop the review and incident response processes for Generative Artificial Intelligence specific issues, and develop novel technologies to counteract emerging threats for both Microsoft and the world at large.
We are looking for a Director of Business Programs to work closely with the AeGIS Leadership Team and lead the AeGIS executive office in driving business operations, ensuring that component teams of AeGIS are executing, and driving coordination and shared visibility among stakeholder teams. The Director is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of the Leadership Team operating rhythm, including setting up and driving key processes to get work done. They will provide insight and advice to the Leadership Team around operational excellence, organizational health and development, and measures of success, and participate in overall group strategy decisions and implementations. They will work with the Leadership Team to develop strategies and content used for sharing and communication within and beyond the team.
Because both the technology and the risks of generative AI are evolving so rapidly, the team continuously reasons about new issues at the interface between technology and the lived reality of people. Experience in the failure modes of human-technology interactions (such as security, privacy, or responsible AI, especially in contexts like social media) is a plus, as is bringing diversity of lived experience to the team.
The role is geared towards an opportunity to understand the operational aspects of security and artificial intelligence and growing overall security, product, and business context.
While AeGIS is distributed around the globe, its center of operation is on the United States West Coast (San Francisco Bay Area and Redmond, WA) and so hours of work center on that time zone.
