Our team in Aircraft Group is looking for a Mechanical Design Drafter (hybrid) to join them. You will report to the Engineering Manager and will have an onsite/ hybrid work schedule in Torrance, CA.
To be considered, here’s what you’ll need to bring with you:
• High School, GED or formal training equivalency and 15 years or more Drafting/Design experience
• Associates Degree in a technical major preferred and 8 years or more of Drafting/Design experience
• Prefer the Associates Degree is in Mechanical Drafting or Mechanical Engineering
• Experience and proficiency with Mcad Software
• Experience with Siemens NX preferred.
As a Design Drafter, you will…
• Translate requirements emanating from a variety of sources into computer models, layouts, detailed engineering drawings, and whenever possible use existing manufactured or purchased parts (Military, Industry Standard or commercial) as defined and retrieved from data sources.
• Direct the efforts of other drafting personnel in the completion of their tasks. This effort includes direction and input based on familiarity with the Moog Systems and Procedures, ECN Release System, and configuration control requirements.
• Contribute to a cost-effective design and functional products by working closely with Design, Manufacturing and Product Engineering.
• Check detail drawings for completeness and accuracy, ensure the parts list/Bill of Materials (BOM) is accurate and agrees with all other documentation such as Assembly and Hydraulic/Electrical Schematic drawings.
• Ensure basic integrity of designs and layouts using correctness of proportionality, sizing, dimensional accuracy, correctness of tolerance limits, and conformance to geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) practices. Review surface finishes for impact on fits, design requirements, and effects on cost.
• Assist in the selection of acceptable materials to conform to design requirements; and be familiar with the raw material drawing system, their use and linkage to the manufactured part. Assist in the selection of acceptable processing procedures.
• Act as focal point for your projects as they progress from concept to release. This activity is performed by coordinating the efforts of drafting personnel, insuring continuity and consistency, maintaining information critical to progress reports, preparing estimates, attending project-oriented meetings and insuring completion of associated tasks on dates required.
• Provide adequate support for PDR, CDR and proposal activities in a timeframe established by Design Engineering, Sales and/or customer requirements.
• Ensure correct use of the CAD system as it relates to file management, file conversions, practices, library creation and sharing.

Salary Range:
California Residents: Pay range for this opportunity is $64,792-$113,276 per year.
The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, competitive 401K plan with enhanced matching program, and many region-specific benefits.
