About the Organization:
African Community Housing & Development (ACHD) is a culturally-specific, community-founded organization led by visionary Black women and a community Board of Directors. ACHD works towards prosperity for the African Diaspora immigrant and refugee community through housing and social services, education programs, and economic development. ACHD staff speak a collective 11 languages, and the majority identify as Black or People of Color.
About the Position:
The African Diaspora Health & Wellness Manager will be a critical member of the Delridge Farmers Market and Social Services teams. This position will liaise with the Puget Sound healthcare ecosystem, coordinate distribution of basic needs resources, and administer programming to ensure that ACHD and the Delridge Farmers Market are one-stop shops for health, wellness, and basic needs resources for the African Diaspora immigrant and refugee community.
Position Duties:
- Coordinate the Holistic African Health Coalition

- Schedule and facilitate monthly Coalition meetings
- Regular communication and check-ins with other Coalition members
- Collect grant data from subcontractors to ensure accurate and timely reporting

- Coordinate all subcontract invoicing and payments to other Coalition members
- Prepare grant reporting, including data and narrative reports
- Establish and maintain warm relationships with culturally-responsive healthcare providers throughout King County
- Manage Health & Wellness programming at the Delridge Farmers Market

- Attend all Market days (Saturdays May 20 – Oct 28, 2023)

- Schedule weekly healthcare programming at the Market (mobile mammograms, dental clinics, vaccine clinics, etc)
- Secure in-kind donations of basic needs supplies (with the support of ACHD’s Fundraising team)
- Manage distribution of basic needs supplies at the Market
- Work closely with the Farmers Market Manager to coordinate Market programming
- Collect participant data
- Assist with Food Access programming in ACHD’s SeaTac office as needed
- Coordinate with ACHD Case Managers to assist with culturally-responsive healthcare referrals
Required Qualifications:
- 3+ years program management and/or nonprofit program design experience
- Fluency in both English one or more of the following languages: Somali, Swahili/Kiswahili, Oromo, Amharic, or Tigrinya
- Accuracy, strong organizational skills, and excellent attention to detail
- Team player; comfortable working collaboratively in a multicultural environment
- Powerful communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work compassionately and respectfully with diverse array of community members
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and demands, establish priorities, manage deadlines, and work effectively in an energetic environment
- Ability to provide warm, welcoming customer service in a busy farmers market environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook and Word
- Background check, motor vehicles report, and proof of COVID vaccination will be required
- Current drivers license
Preferred Qualifications (not required):
- Knowledge of King County healthcare and/or social service nonprofit landscape
- Experience with case management CRM databases, especially Apricot
- Experience in food and basic needs distribution, ie food bank, food pantry, etc
- Experience in healthcare systems navigation
- Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Systems, Social Work, or related field
