CLASSIFICATION SPECIFICATION

CLASS SUMMARY
The Agency Relations Specialist would be responsible to organize the agency’s communication efforts and coordinate a cohesive communication strategy. ASDB utilizes various positions responsible for certain areas to share the agency’s progress and improvement efforts.

The Agency Relations Specialist needs exceptional public speaking and writing skills. Agency Relations Specialist is expected to be a strategic thinker with meticulous attention to detail, working well under pressure, and meeting deadlines. The Agency Relations Specialist manages all internal and external communication of the ASDB agency. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment are needed. To ensure success, the Agency Relations Specialist needs to be innovative, organized, and self-motivated with a keen interest in driving strategic messages to key internal and external stakeholders.

The Agency Relations Specialist is responsible for coordinating all agency communications content with other personnel on behalf of the ASDB agency which may include but not be limited to, writing press releases, developing blog posts and social media updates. They will also need to keep track of analytics, so the agency knows how well they are communicating. An Agency Relations Specialist works alongside the superintendent and assistant superintendents to effectively communicate the agency’s priorities.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related field (essential).
  • A minimum of 2 years experience in communications strategy development (essential).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Content writing experience for all media platforms.
  • Proven social media and networking expertise.
  • Strategic and creative mindset.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.

LICENSING/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to pass FBI and State background check or Fingerprint Clearance Card as position requires by policy or Statute.
  • Defensive Driver Training Program to be completed by all agency personnel that drive on State business.
  • Any related certification that would promote the position is encouraged.

  • Highly computer literate with capability in email, MS Office, and related business and communication tools.

  • Understand laws, regulations and codes; observe performance and evaluate departments and individual staff; problem solve department related issues; remember various rules and procedures; and explain and interpret policy.
  • Interpret and apply department policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
