Agent Development Manager

The Agent Development Manager is a business advisor to agent principals and their teams with a focus on driving results, guiding holistic sales achievement plans, contract compliance and aligning/executing on business strategies that support the collective growth of U.S. Cellular and the agent principal. The Agent Development Manager influences success through comparative performance analytics, thoughtful wireless sales leadership, strong business/financial acumen and the ability to establish collaborative relationships on behalf of U.S. Cellular. This position requires a professional who is highly influential and skilled in negotiation technique.

  • Collaborate with regional leadership team to develop a regional sales and distribution plan, including, but not limited to the recruitment of new agencies, developing business analysis for expansion and closure of agent distribution points, ongoing agent contract negotiations, assisting new and existing agents with strategic planning to ensure U.S. Cellular subscriber and revenue targets are met.
  • Leverage understanding of financial operations of an independent wireless retail business, including driving P&L health of the agency indirect portfolio, including all aspects of the income statement and balance sheet, cashflow, revenue maximization and expense management to produce profitable agency growth.
  • Proactively create, recommend and implement business cases for performance improvement in gaining and retaining subscribers in a community centric approach, and all aspects of successful wireless retail operations.
  • Minimize risk to U.S. Cellular through inventory (asset) management and lease portfolio (asset) oversight based on U.S. Cellular contract terms and administration.
  • Ensure the proper execution marketing investments including co-op utilization-effectiveness, showroom excellence, brand adherence, advertising programs and graphic standards, and product/services.
  • Maintain open communications with the regional leadership teams representing changes in the indirect channel, advocating for needs, and makes recommendations to address marketing needs/ competitive challenges.
  • Collaborate with peer team to maintain up-to-date knowledge of competitor’s offerings and services to develop and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Provide a “Train the Trainer” approach to agent leadership and occasionally its associates, by driving education and providing facilitation in all areas that impact the agent’s business. Serves as a subject matter expert in U.S. Cellular’s recommended sales process.
  • Supervise Agent Development Sales Support Specialist team and is responsible for handling all employee relations issues including hiring, training, ongoing development, and performance management.
  • Lead with an entrepreneurial mindset and consistently guides the team to move agents to success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the leadership of U. S. Cellular.
  • College degree or equivalent business/industry experience
  • 5+ years of relevant and increasingly more complex work and leadership experience, with retail sales and indirect distribution programs
  • Ability to translate and communicate strategic objectives into manageable goals and tactical plans
  • Strong analytical and business-financial acumen
  • Strong organizational, negotiations, communications and influential skills
  • Proven ability to build meaningful, long term relationships with the peers and regional leadership team, key stakeholders and external business partners
  • Must be able to travel as needed to attend training, conferences, and related activities; up to approximately 50% of the time
  • Ability to successfully meet U.S. Cellular’ s Fleet policy requirements upon hire and for continued placement in role

  • 5+ years indirect distribution account management

Salary Range $70000 – $113751 / yearly
