The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will lead and develop strategies relating to all airframe heavy maintenance technical programs in both domestic and international locations. This corporate based leadership role will lead the program/strategic/contract/business management on airframe heavy maintenance technical programs across all current and future fleet types in Amazon AIR’s operation. The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will have an overarching view of all airframe heavy maintenance technical programs. Capitalizing on this unique perspective, the Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will implement synergies across all airframe heavy maintenance technical programs. Cross-functional team building is expected from the Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager to ensure the airframe heavy maintenance team is fully imbedded into all phases of AIR’s operation. The individual will partner with AIR internal/external stakeholders and collectively ensure airframe heavy maintenance is performed using industry best practices and aligned with the highest level of safety. The position drives cost effective methods and efficiencies while focusing on aircraft reliability and quality. The partnership includes establishing performance metrics, developing communication paths, workflow performance management, compliance, continuous improvement and setting clear quality expectations. In addition to heavy maintenance technical program management, the Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will support other strategic projects such as aircraft acquisition and acceptance activities at domestic and international locations.
The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will apply program and project management best practices to lead the Airframe MRO Operation team in an efficient and productive manner. The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will apply deep technical understanding of airframe and systems to develop maintenance strategies that reduce cost, improve reliability and deliver on customer promise of lowest delivery costs. The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager understands a broad range of analytics techniques and know how (and when) to use them. The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will work backwards; starting with customers and stakeholders and define project requirements and work to clarify the technical implementation by driving discussions. The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager establishes milestones and drive sensible deadlines and manage project communications and will serve as the first point of contact for team projects.
The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will lead effective cross-functional team meetings and are able to dive deeply into technical details just as easily as convey a high-level plan. The verbal and written style is clear and concise and is able to transform raw thoughts into clear technical documentation and project requirements. The Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will identify roadblocks, drive the resolution of problems, and manage their resolution. Airframe Heavy Maintenance Manager will participate in the interview process and develop new team members in order to continuously raising the Amazon AIR bar.
Key job responsibilities
– Be the single thread owner/leader to develop and manage the full life-cycle of the aircraft heavy maintenance technical program
– Be the voice of GTO by being the primary point of contact with Amazon AIR’s contracted Carriers and Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MR0) organizations in all matters relating to heavy maintenance technical programs
– Establish communication and feedback loops to Carriers and MRO on FAA compliance matters
– Utilizes all available technical performance data to drive continuous improvements with Carriers and MRO as required
– Develop, manage and apply performance metrics to enable business result improvements
– Develop and implement future processes and standards to improve the heavy maintenance technical program business cycle
– Lead the development of aircraft heavy maintenance schedule to ensure AIR network aircraft allocation requirements are met
– Establish near/long term business cycle development, including ownership of all budgetary planning and compliance, to ensure aircraft heavy maintenance technical programs are executed in an effective and efficient manner
– Develop tracking process and follow post maintenance visit performance. Implement lessons learned actions to mitigate future risk to the aircraft heavy maintenance technical program
– Expected travel requirements up to 50% annually

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
– 6+ years of program or project management experience
– Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
– Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
– Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in Engineering, Aviation, or related field
– 6+ Years in a 14CFR 121 airline or 145 repair station as an Aircraft Maintenance Technical Program Management
– FAA Part 65 Airframe and Powerplant certificate
– Experience with end-to-end aircraft maintenance program process management experience
– Experience in aviation technical contract negotiation including Request For Proposal (RFP) process, vendor evaluation, contract negotiation and administration
– Experience with MS Office Suite
– Experience reading and interpreting FAA directives, technical drawings, maintenance manuals and other technical information
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
– PMP
– MBA in business, operations, human resources, adult education, organizational development, instructional design or related field
– Certified Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
– In-depth association with aviation technical operation industry network and trade groups
– 10+ Years in a 14CFR 121 airline or 145 repair station as an Aircraft Maintenance Technical Program Management
– Track record of problem solving and strong analytical skills
– English written and verbal communication skills

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $92,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
